TYPES OF E CIG VAPORISERS

Types of E Cig Vaporisers

Vaping is a ridiculously simple activity that doesn’t require much on your part to get started. You don’t need a crash course to learn the ropes. But if for some reason the world passed you by as everyone else was lured by the promise of vaping, there are a few nuts and bolts you need to familiarise yourself with. Like the different types of e cig vaporisers, for example. The vaping landscape has changed from what it used to be when the culture first broke ground, and the hardware front has borne one of the most notable transformations. Unlike the days of yore when vapers were limited to a handful of product options, today you will literally be torn for choice when it comes to choosing vaping gear. Electronic cigarettes these days come in a slew of shapes, sizes and colours that can seem daunting for the rookie vaper. So let‘s take a moment to brush through the various types of e cig vaporisers we have on the market today. Broadly speaking, e cig vaporisers can be broken down into three major categories:
  1. Minis (Cig-a-Likes, Pod Systems, Nano Disposable Kits)
Before the vaping hardware industry advanced, the term “electronic cigarettes” used to mean one particular type of e cigs: cig-a-likes. Cig-a-likes are electronic cigarettes that mimic the look and feel of regular cigarettes (hence the name). While their popularity has waned since, this type of mini e-cigs is still available and is a nice way for first time users to seamlessly make the switch from smoking to vaping. These devices are as basic as electronic cigarettes get. Available in both rechargeable and disposable options, they cost little but you’ll find them wanting in the areas of flavour options, battery life and customisability. Thankfully, the advancement in vaping technology has introduced us to a whole new world of devices. Pod systems and nano kits are the modern equivalents of cig-a-likes: small, portable, but packing a punch when it comes to battery power, cloud formation and flavour. Pods are designed for smokers looking for a fuss-free alternative. They have retained cig-a-like principles, but circumventing all the downsides associated with the conventional systems. They have pushed the battery capacity from a paltry ballpark of 90-200mAh to upwards of 300mAh. Instead of cartos that compromise on power and liquid capacity, pods come with a disposable tank that houses a coil, wick and liquid (basically a mini clearomiser). Pod systems come in two options: closed pods (not refillable) and open pods (refillable) such as the new Aqua Vape Refillable release. And they won’t blow a hole in your budget. The same applies to disposable nano kits – their refillable versions can better be classified as small vape mods. Disposable nano kits are also simple electronic cigarettes designed to provide smokers with a no-fuss vaping experience that models a traditional cigarette. But it promises a better taste and stronger nicotine hit than a standard cig-a-like is likely to provide. A great example is the AV Nano Disposable Salt Nic line that comes in three flavours: Tobacco, Menthol and Berries.
  1. Regular Vaporisers (Mid-Size E-Cigs & Vape Pens)
The popularity of electronic cigarettes led to a clamour for devices that could offer larger e-liquid capacity, longer battery life, more vapour production and increased control. This led to the 2nd generation of e-cigarettes – mid-sized vaporisers and vape pens. Mid-sized e-cigs are larger than pods and disposable nanos, with a much improved performance. The same goes for vape pens, named so for their fancy pen-like look. Most are powered by a manual battery and feature a button for activating the heating element. The world of regular vaporisers is a vast one, comprising a wide variety of options – from tiny and discreet, to larger and more powerful, with a myriad styles, colours and features. A good example is the AV Series 2 Vaping Kit or the Innokin Endura T20S.
  1. Advanced Personal Vaporisers (Sub-Ohm Devices and Mods)
APVs are the third type of e cig vaporisers. They are the most complicated and advanced type of vaporiser and became popular out of a need by diehard hobbyists to have a gadget that offered them full control over their vaping experience. Mods are usually used for sub-ohming and their major draw is the ability to harness maximum vapour production, allow for full customisation, and an extended battery life. They come in all shapes and sizes. For example, some sub-ohm devices look more like flashlights than electronic smoking devices. Mechanical mods, for their part, are tubes designed with the goal of getting maximum energy transmission from the battery. They are built with a particular battery size in mind and equipped with highly conductive materials to leverage energy. Box mods come with a large battery box and feature a digital screen to monitor and alter the settings on your device. As mentioned, mods are ideal for when you want to maximise your vaping experience – from the flavour, to the clouds, the throat hit, the tank capacity and generally enjoying a larger freedom of choice when it comes to options such as coils. You can find a wide range of mods in the Aqua Vape store, spanning from the simple like the Aspire Zelos X Mod, to more advanced devices like the Innokin Coolfire Z80 MOD.
